Gaston Cordova, Director of Rehabilitation
Gaston Cordova, Director of Rehabilitation, began his career as a practicing physical therapist in 2005. He earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Midwestern University after completing his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Illinois Wesleyan University. Gaston began treating patients in outpatient orthopedics with ATI Physical Therapy. During his years in this setting, he developed specific skills focused on manual therapy, progressive strengthening and flexibility programs, high-level balance training, and post-operative orthopedic protocols. Gaston’s career path shifted to the world of executive coaching when he began working on performance strategies with elite professional athletes and CEOs of Fortune 500 companies.
Through this experience he discovered a unique blend of combining treatments of the body in physical therapy with interventions for the mind used in executive coaching. In this industry, he was able to guide the performances of world-class athletes, coach executive teams of highly successful companies, and present success seminars to schools, universities, and charitable organizations. In 2009, Gaston re-entered the therapy world focused on fostering a change in post-acute geriatric rehabilitation, incorporating therapy techniques more often seen in sports medicine clinics. While treating the body, he also consistently focused on helping his patients and their families with their mental well-being.
Gaston’s innovative approach to treatment combined with exemplary leadership skills resulted in his promotion to Director of Rehabilitation within seven months of returning to healthcare. With his arrival to Hartsfield Village in the summer of 2014, he has brought a “Personal and Premier” treatment philosophy in efforts to continue facilitating the paradigm shift in geriatric rehabilitation. Making personal connections and finding the roots of inspiration in each patient are at the center of his treatment philosophy.
